New Bunker Sand! This One’s a Trailblazer

Posted by on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 02:26 PM

Introducing a new bunker sand from Waupaca Sand & Solutions!

New McHenry Pioneer Bunker sand is unlike any other bunker sand being manufactured in Illinois. McHenry Pioneer Bunker Sand

This sand has a high penetrometer value, so there is a very low tendency for the ball to bury.  Golfers’ shots will set up high on the sand.  No fried egg lies in bunkers built with McHenry Pioneer.

All other values fall well within long-established bunker guidelines.  Particle sizing, angle of repose, infiltration rate, and setup are right on target for great bunker performance.

You’ve got to experience this sand for yourself.  It feels different in your hand.  It plays different than the typical local sands used in the Midwest.  This is because of the unique production process this material goes through.

Have you been looking for a next-level bunker sand?  Build a test bunker with McHenry Pioneer.  You won’t regret it.

Keep Sand Clean & Dry With a Topdressing Sand Silo

“My topdressing sand stays clean and dry.”

“It’s easy for one guy to just pull up with the topdresser, drop some sand in, and drive back out.  It’s much more efficient than loading sand out of a bin.”  Topdressing Sand Silo

“Always having dry sand for our light topdressing applications is invaluable.”

A topdressing storage silo is the ideal addition to your operation.  A silo makes your crew more efficient when topressing.  It keeps your sand clean and dry to make it easier to work into the turf canopy.

As an added bonus, your Fines Free Kiln Dried Topdressing Sand is stored in clean, dry silos.  It is double processed through our sand fractionating plant.  It is delivered in enclosed pneumatic trucks with no exposure to rain, snow, or outside elements.

Call your Waupaca Sand rep today to find out how a sand storage silo can be a benefit to your course.

August Inspiration and Perspiration

‘Today I will do what others won't, so tomorrow I can do what others can't.’
- Paraphrased quote from Jerry Rice. Today I Will Do What Others Wont

Inspiration for superintendents as we enter the dog days of August.

The sun in hot.  The turf is dry.  It’s already been a long year.  Hang in there.  Keep grinding.

Ask yourself what you want tomorrow.  And do the work today to get there.  Keep your eyes on the prize that is most important to you.

We wish you the best on every day of your journey…

LEED-Friendly Landscaping And Planting Materials

Posted by on Monday, June 30, 2014 09:41 AM

Are you designing or bidding a LEED friendly project?  Waupaca Sand and Solutions can help make your project an environmentally-savvy endeavor.  We support LEED building projects to make them within budget, while being environmentally compatible, and providing a healthy work environment.

How Waupaca Sand & Solutions may be able to help with your project:

WE Credit 1.1: Water Efficient Landscaping: Reduce by 50%

Requirement: Limit or eliminate the use of potable water, or other natural surface or subsurface water resources available on or near the project site, for landscape irrigation.

How Waupaca products could qualify: Use of decorative stone in landscaping, either alone or with native drought tolerant plants.

MR Credit 5.1: Regional Materials: 10% Extracted, Processed & Manufactured Regionally

Requirement: Use building materials or products that have been extracted, harvested or recovered, as well as manufactured, within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (based on cost) of the total materials value.

How Waupaca products could qualify: all of our landscape stone, planting soil, and athletic field construction products are produced in Wisconsin or Illinois.  If your project is in the Midwest, we’ll help you meet your regional materials requirement.

The eco-friendly building rating system known as LEED for Leadership in Energy Environmental Design has been around for more than a decade.  Leed.net says, “Recycled construction materials and energy efficient appliances also impact the point rating system. In the political climate of today's world, as the earth's natural resources are being depleted at an alarming rate the construction industry is being compelled to look at alternatives to traditional construction materials and styles.”  We are proud to take part in the projects that follow the LEED way of development.  If you are ready to take on a project, let us help you.
