Selecting Bunker Sand for your course is different than topdressing sand or
construction materials. Unlike the scientific research and testing methods that
have been developed to qualify materials for topdressing and construction,
bunker sand evaluation is much more subjective. In fact what may be a good
trap sand for one type of player may be unfavorable for the next.
It
is
important to choose a consistent sand source, know the infiltration rate will
not impede drainage, the gradation of the sand will not impact the rootzone
performance of a green when it is "splashed" on to the surface, and that the
sand characteristics for playability are in line with your typical clientele.
We feel test bunkers and evaluation of bunker sands in the real world are the
best way for our customers to choose the right sand. We encourage people to
evaluate our bunker sands in these types of "real world" situations. When you
see how a sand performs for your course and players you will then be able to
make the best selection.
